Old Fashioned
02:12
|
|||
Sparklers and sprinklers
twinkies and weenies
The innocence before climbin out windows
The smell of that first campfire
How it lasted on your clothes
Peein on a trees
and unscrewin ketchup caps
Ridin bikes to the creek
to watch the girls in bikinis
Life was easier back then
Life sure was easier back then
The first glimpse of fireflies lightin the sky above the lake
That beyond first base move you were too nervous to make
Took a lot of pizza and I hate ice cream
but I'm so glad you became my queen
And Darlin you can make me an old fashioned anytime
Make me remember
Those simpler times
When we held hands
And stared in each other's eyes
Darlin I'll take your old fashioned anytime

Black n Blue
01:35
|
|||
Sometimes it’s black n blue
Sometimes it’s just black
When it’s early in the mornin and I want my dreams back
When it’s late in the Evenin and Everythin’s gone to hell
Sometimes it’s me
Sometimes it’s you
When it’s too hot to think and too cool for a kiss
When the mood screams murder
I try to reminisce
There ain’t a thing
That I can do
Sometimes it’s black but sometimes it’s blue
I’m neither right
and you’re neither wrong
like oil n water
we sing different songs
Sometimes
That’s just the way it is
Can’t take the blue outta black
Ohhh once it’s been hit

You Can't Never Tell
01:52
|
|||
Because you can’t never tell x3
Hardly is what you may think
oh we all have our churches totems and scrolls
bibles bottles and pills
we tote the chains of promises and silly pains
we buy into the lil things just to feel that dream
swirl right on down the drain
then we do it all again
Because you can’t never tell
Hardly is what you may think
Seemed like a good idea at that time
There are moments when I am totally blind
and I don’t have a mind
just a feelin
and the tree is branchin open
like the limbs from my my body
and the cracks in the concrete are spreadin wide
The door keeps a knockin and I leave it open but it’s the same ol ghost
you can’t never tell
Hardly is what you may think
you can’t never tell
Hardly is what you may think

It took me 31 years to have a date
with my red headed stranger that takes the cake
met my share of devils ahh even angels but none can take the place of good ol Willie
I've sang those songs since I was wee high
messed around and married another guy who wasn't good ol Willie
I didn't make a whole album just to him
I'm not namin names but who’s to blame
You know that voice from a mile away
there is somethin graceful and full of pain
as my daddy lay dyin I begged him to go
to his pony named trigger far from this home.
We all have those stars that sit ever so high
that for some frickin reason put the twinkle back in our eyes
It took me 31 years to have a date
with my red headed stranger that takes the cake
met my share of devils even angels but none can take the place of good ol Willie
I've sang those songs since I was wee high
messed around and married another guy who wasn't good ol Willie
I could beat myself up but what fun would that be
we all gotta have somethin not quite in reach
when the deals gone south
and there is no end in sight
In lieu of the memories I’ll take tonight

Matchin Set Of Bones
01:40
|
|||
All we've got is a Matching set of bones
I'm a tired mind
With a weary soul
I wanna settle down
But I've grown too cold
All we've got is a matching set of bones
Maybe they will carry us somewhere warm
But for now I'll just stay home
All I've got
Is all I need
Except when it comes to company
Oohhhh
All we've got is a matchin set of bones
Days go by
Faster and faster
hearin the howlin wind/ clanking and the laughter
I recall just what I’m after
oooohhhhhh
All we've got is a matchin set of bones
it’s a bitter wind
and a nasty bite
please won’t you hold me tight
All we've got is a Matchin set of bones
I'm a tired mind
With a weary soul
I wanna settle down
But I've grown too cold
All we've got is a matchin set of bones
ooohhhhh
All we've got is a matchin set of bones

Dirty Laundry
02:30
|
|||
Till I met you
Life wasn't so personal
Wasn’t so raw
Wasn’t so new
And the smoke in my brain
clouded a view
Till I met you
Till I met you
Walkin was simpler
But It don't matter who did the talkin
We were both walkin different speeds
But building it is standin
and that skeleton it is concrete
Till I met you
I'd never done
Such things
Till I met you
You reminded me
There's always dishes to wash and a floor to sweep
Plants to be watered and animals to feed
There will always be Dirty Laundry
Till I met you
didn't think about that me
Till I met you
It was easier to stay asleep
Like the dead you can't wake me
Even with a slap I'm stubborn like that
Till I met you

Momma tried to tell me
02:36
|
|||
Momma tried to tell me somethin was wrong
I wasn't listenin just playin along
When I finally got it and the truth came out
Oh my momma I shut my mouth
Sometimes it takes awhile
For certain lessons
To come back in style
Sometimes we learn and sometimes we live
Another round down the hatch
Bottoms up and break that glass
Momma said there'd be ups and downs
Don't you settle till you find your crown
There'll be runners up last places and even ties
None of it matters shut up and shut your eyes
Momma tried to tell me somethin was wrong
I wasn't listenin just playin along
When I finally got it and the truth came out
Oh my momma I shut my mouth
I try real hard not to judge
To go with the flow
And not hold a grudge
To take the impacts and hold back the punch
Oh my I'm learning when to hush

Ropes in the Trunk
01:31
|
|||
You can tie me up
You can make me play dead
But I'll forever be the one wearing red
I may seem a lil off
Nuts in the head
A bit of a handful
But I'm wearin red
I'll take my downfalls
For what's in my head
You can judge my book
For what you haven't read
I'll only tell you once
Hang ups I do have
But I'm the one
Who wears the red
You can speak your words
Make those plans
But when she shows up
The blood is on your hands
